Privacy Policy
Updated 16 October 2026
1. Summary
Suppertime does not send your family’s data to us. The data is stored in the iCloud account of the family’s founder and shared from there with the family members, and Apple’s terms and privacy policy apply to it. The app’s developer has no access to it.

3. What data the app processes
The app’s data is stored in the family’s own iCloud or on the device, and Cavalier Venues Oy does not process it. The app uses the data only for its own functions within the family:
- First name, given by the family member and editable by an admin.
- App-specific iCloud account identifier and family unlock status, which the app uses to recognise the family member and their right to vote.
- Recipes: names, ingredients, steps and photos added by users.
- Menus, meal plans and the shopping list.
- Votes and locking decisions with their grounds.
- Family settings, such as meal times, units of measurement and time zone. They are stored in the family’s iCloud like the other data.
- Device settings, such as notification choices. They stay on the device.
What is not processed
- No email addresses or phone numbers. Invitations are sent through Apple’s share sheet, and the app does not store or use the recipient’s contact details.
- No location data. Location and other metadata are removed from photos when they are saved, and text recognition in photos and recipe translation happen on the device. The camera is used only to photograph recipes and dishes.
- No analytics, user tracking, advertising identifiers or third-party software development kits.
Recipe pages from the web
When you share or drop a recipe page into Suppertime, the app fetches the page directly from its website, as a browser does when opening the page. The website then sees your device’s IP address. The fetch does not go through us, and we receive no information about it.
4. Notifications
The app asks for permission to send notifications. It reminds you of voting deadlines and of the day’s meal, and tells you when a vote opens or when a locked meal for today or tomorrow changes. Notifications are composed on the device from the family’s data. You can refuse or withdraw the permission in your device settings, and the app otherwise works normally.
5. Retention and deletion
Polls, cast votes and locking decisions are deleted automatically three calendar months after the day of the meal. Menus then keep only the total number of times served and the latest date served, for rotation suggestions. At most the ten most recent entries are kept in each meal’s locking history and in the family’s settings history. The deletions are made by Suppertime on the founder’s device when the app is used there.
In addition, data can be deleted in the app at three levels:
- A single recipe, menu or shopping list item is deleted in its own view.
- Your membership: a member can leave the family (and the founder can remove a member) in Settings and family. The member’s details and votes are then deleted. Recipes, locks and settings changes the member added remain with the family without their name.
- The whole family: the founder can delete the family in Settings and family, which also deletes the data from the other members’ devices.
Deletion is permanent. As the data is not in our possession, we cannot restore it and we keep no backups of it. Instructions are on the support page.
6. Children
The app is rated 4+ and is not in the App Store Kids category. The app does not collect data for marketing purposes and does not show ads. Every family member who votes needs their own Apple Account.
7. Website, contacts and test versions
The website suppertime.fi does not use cookies or analytics, and it does not load content from other servers. The pages are delivered by Vercel Inc. (hosting), which processes technical data from your browser, such as your IP address, on our behalf to deliver the pages and for security. If you email us, we process your address and message to reply to you, and the messages are stored on our behalf by Google (mailbox). A support log attached to a message contains the app’s events and error messages but no family data.
If you test the app in TestFlight, we can see your tester details in App Store Connect, such as your name and email address, as well as the feedback you send, including screenshots and device details. If you have allowed sharing analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple also passes the app’s crash reports to us. They contain the device model and operating system version but no family data.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website functional and secure, replying to messages and fixing errors in the app (Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation). Logs containing technical data are kept for at most 30 days, and Vercel may also keep technical logs for its own purposes in accordance with its privacy policy. Emails are kept for 12 months from the latest message. Test feedback and crash reports are kept in App Store Connect in accordance with Apple’s terms.
Data may be transferred to the United States, and the transfers are based on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses; a copy of the clauses is available from tuki@suppertime.fi.
8. Your rights
The app’s data is in the family’s own iCloud, so you can view, change and delete it yourself in the app. You have the right to access your other personal data, that is, the data of the website, contacts and test versions (section 7), to have it rectified and erased, to restrict its processing and to object to it. Requests and questions: tuki@suppertime.fi.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman in Finland, tietosuoja.fi.
9. Changes
If this policy is changed, the date at the top of the page is updated. Material changes are announced in the app.
